What Will Smith Can’t Tell You about the Men In Black!
The Men in Black franchise spawned a number of movies, which albeit fun to watch, always ask the question at the end….are we the only ones in this universe?
The first official recorded encounter of the MIB was back in 1953 with Albert Bender, and has since gone on to spark many a conspiracy theory and such like stories ever since.
But just who are the Men In Black?
The classic conception of an MIB is a man of indefinite age, medium height and dressed completely in black. He always has a black hat and often a black turtleneck sweater. They present an appearance often described as “strange” or “odd.” They speak in a dull monotone voice, “like a computer,” and are dark-complection with high cheekbones, thin lips, pointed chin, and eyes that are mildly slanted.
The visitors themselves are often on absurd missions. They have reportedly posed as salesmen, telephone repairmen or representatives from official or unofficial organizations. Their mode of transportation is usually large and expensive cars — Buicks or Lincolns, sometimes Cadillacs, all black, of course.
Their cars often operate with the headlights off, but ghostly purple or greenish glows illuminate the interior. Unusual insignia have been seen emblazoned on the doors and the license plates are always unidentifiable or untraceable.
Bizarre Men in Black Visit
Huffington Post tells the 1976 chilling story of a family physician in Maine, Dr. Herbert Hopkins. Unknown to anyone else, Dr. Hopkins was researching a UFO incident when he received a phone call from a supposed UFO group that later proved to be bogus. The man asked to come over immediately to the doctor’s home to discuss his research.
Agreeing to the meeting, Dr. Hopkins hung up the phone and walked across the room to turn on the outside light when there was a knock on the door and when he opened the door; there stood a MIB.

The doctor described the typical pasty-faced, bald man dressed all in black except for his white shirt. He described the man as wearing red lipstick that during the course of their conversation, the MIB smeared when he brushed his brown gloved finger over his lips. The doctor was alarmed when the smeared lipstick revealed abnormally formed lips that were a “perfectly straight slit.”
At the end of their conversation, the man asked Dr. Hopkins to place a coin in the MIB’s hand. The stranger then proceeded to turn the copper penny to silver then blue whereby the coin started to look fuzzy and “out of focus”. Slowly, the coin “dematerialized”.
Upon the end of this magic show, the MIB ordered Dr. Hopkins to destroy all of his UFO research.
Dr. Hopkins noted that the MIB spoke in a monotone robotic manner. He described how the MIB’s speech grew slower and when the stranger attempted to stand in order to leave, he was unsteady and weak.
The MIB said his energy was “running… low…” and he must leave. He had difficulty descending the outside steps and had to steady himself by grasping onto the railing, taking one step at a time.
The MIB didn’t arrive or leave via the typical black car. Dr. Hopkins reported that the stranger simply walked around the corner into a bright light and disappeared.
UFO researchers and eye-witnesses have reported these strange visitations from MIB that leave them feeling threatened and frightened. Whoever the MIB are, they seem to easily accomplish their mission of intimidation and even if only temporarily, stopping the spread of UFO information.
Men in Black Visit the Library
A professor of folklore named Peter Rojcewicz told of an experience that occurred one night in the college library while he was reading a book on UFOs that had been recommended to him by a colleague. He was just relaxing in a chair and reading his book when he noticed what appeared to be a leg and a shoe out of the corner of his eye. Before he knew it, there was a man sitting in a chair in front of him. The man immediately asked Rojcewicz about the book he was reading and questioned him on whether he had seen UFOs or was at all interested in the phenomenon.
When the professor stated that he wasn’t really that interested in the subject to begin with and was only reading the book to satisfy the suggestion of a colleague, the man became enraged and angrily asked him how he could not be interested in “the most important facts of the century.” Seemingly satisfied that the professor was not going to dig into the world of UFOs, the man left, but not before telling the professor to “go well on his purpose.” However, while it seems like this would be the end of it, it’s here that the story takes a turn for the extra creepy.
After the encounter, Rojcewicz got up to walk around the library. However, none of the librarians were anywhere to be seen. The same went for the guards and all the patrons. In fact, as far as he could tell, the library was completely deserted except for him. The professor returned to his chair in an attempt to gather his wits. In about an hour, according to the professor, he decided to get up and look around again—and this time he found that everything was as it should be.
